MANABU KISHIMOTOは、何層にも重ねた絵の具を削ることで、人間の「存在」そのものを描き出そうとしている。
彼の作品は、日本の伝統技法「研ぎ出し」を応用し、幾層にも塗り重ねたアクリル絵具を水研ぎすることで、削られた表層の下から複雑に重なり合う色彩の痕跡を浮かび上がらせる。
この「削る」という行為を通して、社会が引いた境界線や後付けされた属性を取り払い、人間がただ「在る」ということ、その純粋な存在の本質を浮かび上がらせることを試みている。

Born in Minamikawachi District, Osaka in 1990, currently living in Tokyo
Graduated from the Department of Visual and Physical Studies, College of Contemporary Psychology, Rikkyo University.
MANABU KISHIMOTO attempts to depict human existence itself by scraping away multiple layers of paint.
His works apply the traditional Japanese technique of “togidashi,” in which multiple layers of acrylic paint are applied and then water-brushed to reveal intricately layered traces of color beneath the scraped surface.
Through this act of “scraping,” he attempts to remove societal boundaries and added attributes, revealing the pure essence of human existence—that we simply “are.”
